WHAT FELIWAY IS.

WHAT FELIWAY DIFFUSER IS USED FOR

Feliway Diffuser contains a synthetic analog of the F3 fraction of feline facial pheromones and offers a natural and practical solution to prevent and control stress-related behavioral problems such as:

- urinary marking
- vertical scratching
- cat conflict to maintain or restore harmony between cats.

Feliway Diffuser reassures cats facing in difficult or new situations such as:

- adoption
- new environment: moving, vacation, travel, renovation or new furniture
- new arrivals (children, pets)
- noisy environments (fireworks, house parties, etc.).

Feliway can be used under the advice of a Veterinary Doctor or Behaviorist.

In some situations Feliway Diffuser can be used in combination with Feliway Spray (see table in the attached package insert).

HOW TO USE FELIWAY DIFFUSER

Feliway Diff user helps to strengthen the relationship with your cat, creating for a calm and safe environment.

Scientific studies have shown that Feliway makes your cat move around the house more than not using it.

Simply screw the Recharge to the Diffuser and plug it into an electrical outlet.

Leave the Diffuser running continuously to keep your cat relaxed and friendly.

Each Recharge lasts about 4 weeks and covers anarea of about 50-70sqm.

Replace Feliway Recharge every 4 weeks by purchasing a new one.

Consult your veterinary doctor for more information. Feliway Diffuser is not recommended in cases of overt aggression between cats or toward the owner or otherwise in cases of non-stress-related behavior.

Avoid placing the Diffuser under shelves, behind doors, curtains or furniture.

WHAT ARE PHEROMONES

Pheromones are an airborne chemical signal widely used by animals to communicate with each other. When emitted by an animal, pheromones are intercepted by animals of the same species, influencing their behavior.

The message released is intended for other animals, but it is also a reminder to the animal that emitted it. For example, a cat rubbing its snout in its environment tells other cats that that is its territory, but it does so to remind itself as well.

Different parts of the cat's body release pheromones (other than hormones) that are associated with different functions, e.g., territorial pheromones, sex pheromones, gratification pheromones, and alarm pheromones.

CAT BODY PARTS THAT PRODUCE AND DETECT PHEROMONES

Pheromones are produced by some specific body parts, which are:

• Paw pads
• Mammary region
• Perineal region
• Urogenital region

Pheromones are detected by a specific organ located in the palate (vomeronasal organ, VNO) through a specific breathing movement (called "flehmen") that attracts pheromones from the air inside the VNO.

WHAT PHEROMONE IS CONTAINED IN FELIWAY?

Feliway is the synthetic copy of the feline facial pheromone (F3) used by cats to mark the boundaries of gold territory. The cat that rubs its snout on objects is releasing these pheromones.

This behavior is manifested daily by all cats (domestic or wild) and gives security and reassurance.

In a new environment the cat after some time will start marking it to make it safe and familiar.

Cats also mark their territory by scratching and urine marking. When these behaviors occur inside the house, they usually indicate that the cat is feeling stressed.

Observation of cat behavior has shown an antagonism between facial marking and scratching or urine marking.

HOW FELIWAY WORKS

It was found that F3 fraction is an antagonist of behavioral markings in cats (scratching and urine markings) used to mark their territory, but also that when they occur in the home the cat feels stressed.

Feliway used around cats reproduces this natural facial pheromone, spreading a reassuring message. As a result, it helps prevent and control unwanted marking behaviors.

Feliway comes from analysis of multiple samples of the natural secretions of cats of different breeds, sex (male and female), sexual status (whole, neutered or spayed).
