Chiudi Filtri
While dogs and cats are considered the quintessential pets, there are other numerous species that require less commitment and at the same time know how to give their owners affection and moments of joy. The choice usually falls on the dwarf rabbit as a pet for several reasons: there is the impulse (it is a very sweet animal that makes you want to pick it up, cuddle it and fill it with kisses), there is perhaps the insistence of a child (and compared to a dog, in the mindset of the parent, a rabbit is the right compromise between a sweet, non-revolting pet for the owner and an animal with which to empower the child), or simply because we want a companion that is discreet but does not require constant attention like a dog or cat. None of these choices are well thought out, however, and the dwarf rabbit does not always marry our needs. Many people do not know that it is a delicate animal, very sensitive and intelligent, capable of showing feelings and affection toward its owner
Guinea pigs, or guinea pigs, on the other hand, are many times more similar to mice and are very beautiful to watch as they play in their cage, which must, in any case, be set up in a manner consonant with their natural needs. They are animals that hate solitary life, so it is always best to get them in pairs, and they can become very attached to their owner. And yet chinchillas, squirrels, hamsters and gerbils are among the rodents best suited to become the perfect pet for caring and sensitive people.
Whichever rodent you decide to get, remember, however, that it is very important to keep its cage perfectly dry and clean at all times, taking care to change the material to rest on the bottom often. As for feeding, it may vary depending on the species, so you should consult with a veterinarian to understand how best to feed the little beastie.
